Bleu for You

Today, our local bakery finally re-opened under new ownership. I met Solanah, Coedith and her whole family to test drive the new baked goods. They revealed themselves at Bleu Door Bakery, and offer french style breads and pastries. It was tasty, but I am a sucker for fresh baked treats, and small local business, so it goes without saying that I am going to be a fan.

I wore my Fleur De Lis tights from Sock Dreams, and a cozy silk velvet dress to ring in the opening, and the kids... acted like kids.

Independenly, independent.

For whatever reason I am in no mood to write, so this is the shortest, most picture filled blog about nothing ever. Here is a photo re-cap of the 4th of July party hosted by Team Jessup. The usual suspects were in full attendance including Solanah and Coedith. It was sunny, warm, and loads of fun. How is that for a dull and lifeless post?

TuTus and Toddlers

I went to lunch this week with the lovely Solanah and her Aunt Coedith. Betwixt the two of us, (Coedith and I) we have 6 children, so any outing is a tall order. It was fun, we hit the local pub house with a wonderful kids area and had a burger-ish luncheon before we parted ways to preschool, kindergarten, or what have you. I wore a fun 50s skirt, with my crinoline exposed, and my daughter Marguax took part as well in her favorite tutu. The tutu is an important child wardrobe staple, of which one can not leave home without, lest you be privy to full scale temper tantrum!

Monday morning, I shall divulge the details of mine and Solanah's secret sewing project! I am sure you will all love the crazy that happens when we put our minds together. See you then!

Obligatory Holiday Post

Regardless of your stance on the holiday known as the feast of Saint Valentine, you must admit having a good excuse to dress up is always a good time. This years Valentines found me at Team Jessup's house, for a fancy soireƩ with pink cocktails. Our most favorite multi-dimensional blogging family was entirely present, with Coedith in a fabulous handmade themed circle skirt. Solanah was there too, wearing a full length mink coat that was outrageously pretty. Sloe Gin Fizz got the best of me, and I had to go home early, but the party and the games we played were quite fun!

Is this photo not hilarious? I think it totally reminds me of the picture your mom would snap in the minutes before you are out the door and off to your senior prom.
Other than the cheese factor of this picture, do take note of my FABULOUS dress which I got from Dandelion Vintage. Such amazing stuff on her site, you should go browse after you are done reading this blog post! Oh, and the date... yes, I had a date. Shhh... If you are a regular follower you will notice its the same guy from this post, and this post...

Our parties are so amazing, and little known fact, we are actually the mob. We even have the bald Italian guy who points his finger a lot.

Hope you had a memorable holiday weekend, or in the very least ate chocolate. I am pretty sure that is something you must accomplish on or around valentines day. I don't make the rules, I just enforce them.

Surprise!

I woke up this morning, drank coffee, and form the point on my day was a rush of go-go-go. I loaded up the kids to stop by the Urban Eccentric to see Solanah and give her a dress. While there August found these funny cat glasses and a camera, and decided to play paparazzi.
We left Solanah to go play at the park with her Aunt Coedith, and Co. It's nice to have some vintage friends who have kids to play with. Sometimes I find that being a Mom you make friends with people who are nothing like you soley based on their child bearing status, so its nice to come across moms that you really do like.
After the park we came home for a short nap, and I played with the black and white feature on my camera, and thus these images were born.
Do not ask me how I did my hair today, my faux bangs never end up this nice, I was so plesantly surprised when they worked out so stylishly. But the best surprise of the day?
My mother so kindly got my a subscription to Vintage Life Magazine for my Birthday next Monday! Issue 2 arrive on my stoop this afternoon, chock full of vintage goodies, and a slight few vintage hmmmmms... I have not read all the articles yet, but plan to cozy up with it in bed tonight.
Well, off with me then. I need to go plan things like my birthday party on saturday, and of course get feared up for the Palmer Wirf's Portland Antique Expo coming up in a week! My favorite time of the season, Expo! What a lovely summer this is turning out to be.
