I Love A New Dress!

While out shopping for threads to add to ye olde Etsy Shop, I came across a dress I could not sell.
Once I put it on to size it up, I realized I would need to keep it. The dress is made by R & K Originals, which is notorious for lovely dresses and practical day wear. This dress is made of fantastic soft cotton that I could just live in! As you can see, I just could not part with it.

Wrapper's Delight

I know many of you lovely vintagettes out there have an affection for the classic Swirl Dress, and honestly who wouldn't? How easy and convenient! My latest sewing project has been a simple 1940s wrap sundress, sort of similar in style to a Swirl. I am so excited at how the test run turned out!
I had to make some alterations, because I accidentally made it too big in the bust. It should have straight straps in the back, but I had to cross mine to fit properly. I find that this mistake made the dress all the more versatile in size range!
The dress wraps across the front and over laps in the back, which I believe is opposite of the Swirl dress. I have worn it several times now with out issue, and I must say it has been a staple item in this 100 degree weather we are having in the Pacific Northwest.
Sadly, I have yet to get a decent picture of the dress. I will be unveiling another soon I hope, and then I will get a good picture so you can see the inner workings up close and personal!

Birthday Recap

I was able to track down a camera that had evidence of my birthday!
Sadly there are no full body shots, and as you can see, they were taken late in the night, when I was at the pub and a little less sober. Ha!
But the car show was a great deal of fun, and I got to see my friend and a vendor at the show, Jessie, who is pictured with me. She owns Box Wine Betty which is rockabilly vintage inspire work-out gear and sweet jewelry.
Anyway, Do enjoy my silly faces and hiding behind trees painted on walls.

colors of spring.

Today was so bright and light in my house, I decided to put up the back drop and shoot some dress I have waiting to be sold.

My husbands camera is total rubbish, so its hard to get a decent shot, but some turned out quite fun.
I have been adding stuff to my ETSY all morning. I still have a stack of dresses waiting to be listed.


Yesterday was my daughters very first birthday, so I have been so busy.
I baked 4 cakes for the party, and have been doing the dishes ever since, so it felt great to get up and get some
frocks listed today.

This pink dress is one of my favorites I nabbed at a sale the other day. I was very saddened when it was about 2 inches too big in the bust and waist.
Oh well, someone with a 28 inch waist will love it, nearly as much as I did.
I had a blast using all sorts of props for the shoot. I can't wait to be able to afford to buy my camera again (stolen!) Once I have my camera, the picture quality will improve 10 fold.

I watched the saddest movie the other night called, Black Book.
Carice Van Houten is stunning in the movie, showcasing stellar hair-dos and decadent duds.
The story line, is melancholy and tragic. It portrays a different view on WWII which was rather interesting.
I sometimes forget about other parties in the war. We here in the states spend so much time learning US history we seldom get a glimpse of history from other counties.
If you can handle a heart-wreching flick I highly recommend Black Book.

I was cruising Etsy today, and what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a lovely shop with amazingly reasonable vintage prices. Of course I must share.
