Traveling Travelers

Last weekend we bundled up our two week old baby, and made the highly unusual trek over the mountain, thru the canyons, and into the high desert to central Oregon. This trip is always a strange array of weather patterns as you can imagine. We left rain, encountered snow.. and ended in sunshine.
This trip however was not like others before it, this time the snow on the mountain was worse than usual and we, being the city folk that we are, thought we could make it over without the aid of traction devices. Needless to say, we had a very horrifying spin-out across traffic that ended with us hitting a pole and a snow drift. Thankfully, we were all safe and some lovely people stopped and helped us get un-stuck. Lesson learned dear friends! We put our chains on like good city folk and white-knuckled the steering wheel all the way out of the white flecks falling from the sky.

Above is my face just before the accident. It's like I knew it was coming!
Below, is something insane we actually witnessed in the high desert. Small towns... smaller brains. WOW.

The silver lining to unbearably cold weather, is the fact that I got to wear my AMAZING Christmas Coat! I really cant deny a oversized leopard print fur hood on a mustard coat. My new lovely shirtwaist dress I recently thrifted paired SO well with my special made belt from Cassie Stephens! I just need to match up my bordello's with this ensemble to complete the signature "Twila Jean" look.

I am taking a short break from the blog this week, I had a tooth extraction, that has left me quite worthless, and turned into a bigger problem, so finding time to dress nice and blog is hard. I will be back in full swing quite soon!

Oh no, that must have been frightening, especially with the littlun with you. Glad nobody got hurt. I really like the mustard and red combo of your outfit. I've been meaning to ask what brand your glitter shoes are. I've been hunting for the perfect pair of flat ruby slippers! :) x

Love the coat...and thrilled to see you wearing your belt! Before I even scrolled down that far, I noticed your leopard bow in your hair and I thought, "that's so her signature!" Thanks for the mention. Drive safely...I hate driving in that stuff!

OmG! I'm so glad you are all ok! Do they not plow the roads up there? Wow! Gotta love the political signs! As usual, you look AWESOME!!

I don't get it? Is it a promotion for the judge and the planner, or is it an opposition party saying that having those guys in office is as bad as having AIDS? Either way it's terribly ignorant and offensive.

So glad you're OK after your accident, it must have been terrifying. Hope the little ones weren't too shaken up. x

Thank goodness you and yours were alright! Talk about giving my heart a kickstart... came over to your blog to ck on you and baby and then this! lol. You are certainly an adventurer which is why I keep coming back. Take care and hope your are feeling better soon (was a dental assistant in my last life so know how hard those extractions can be to deal with afterwards). Love the hood! Wow. And what is with that sign? My mouth dropped open.

Glad you're all right :)

Secondly, crook county exists? In the Pacific Northwest? And isn't simply a euphemism for Cook County, Chicago, Illinois?
