Dungarees to Dig In

Sunday, was lovely and bright here! I spent the morning wandering around the yard, looking at all the flowers popping up, and playing a little soccer with the kids. I set up my little metal table under a tree out back, I can't wait for summer so I can have breakfast outside with the family.

By some strange turn of magical events my husband decided to built a box around my garden plot. I was so happy when he arrived home to build it for me today! Tomorrow, if we are blessed with more sunshine, will be planting day!

Is my head scarf not the funniest thing ever? I had no idea it had come so untied and poofy. I look like Minnie Mouse. A riot!
My dungarees are, of course, the Freddies Of Pinewood 50s reproduction jeans. I adore these jeans, and they make gardening a very stylish affair. If you don't own a pair yet, you should order some... garden season is here!

Garlic Fries.

One of my favorite thing about the one day a week we get a baby sitter, is Happy Hour. When my husband gets off work at 3:00 we head to the water front and eat at a McMenamins, which are local bohemian, main-stream funky, brew pubs.
When you are as thrifty and poor as we, you only have dates during Happy Hour, but that is OK! I love being able to enjoy Garlic Fries for $1.00 and Hummus with Pita for $2.00. All of this, of course, with my favorite hat from my grammy, and a pint of good locally brewed beer.

Obligatory Vintage Hair Style Post

I spend a lot of time wearing the same pin-curled hair style. I really need to branch out more.
I have no excuse, I have been sitting on a copy of the second edition of Vintage Hairstyling by Lauren Rennells for a month or so now. I decided I would attempt one of the styles yesterday, and although I did some variations to it, I like the outcome.
I did the Happy Pompadour, but it really turned into faux bangs, and I left the back down instead of pulling it into pigtails. Regardless, Lauren's book is endlessly full of ideas and tips, and helped me with this style!
Now, if I could take a picture where I didn't have some crazed look on my face, that would be wonderful. I found this style pretty easy to tackle, in comparison to some others I am still working on. When I get them worked out you will see some more smirk-y faced pictures.
Lauren's book also has a seriously sensational section on Finger Waves, that spells it out in plain English. If you are trying to pull off the finger wave and still don't understand, I would highly suggest Vintage Hairstyling! Well, that among many other things.
