If you wait for my husband to install a home decor item you might just die before it happens. Now he is very handy at fixing hem plumbing, or putting up fences, but drilling curtain rods into the wall... Not his forté I suppose.
So I took matters into my own able hands. Our kitchen windows are in a corner, so I had to straddle the sink and counter in a skirt while I maneuvered the drill.
With much screaming and near tears, I did manage to get the rods tucked neatly in the corner, and hung my cherry print curtains upon them. I love my kitchen more and more as it becomes more... Mine. I also wanted to say thanks for all the input on the bread box debacle. I bought the one at Target thanks to your suggestions!

Love the cherry print curtains! I admire that you didn't wait too long for someone to save you, you got it done. I would have done that myself (but they would most likely have been a bit crooked)

ah, perfect timing! because i have to tell you: i was at Bolt on NE Alberta and they have vintage repro towling. 2 of them with cherries! $4-4.50 a yard, which will make a few towels :)
*le sigh* I want so badly to look out a window while doing dishes, your new home is lovely
LOL! How classy, I just noticed my sink full of dishes! hehehehe
Just wanted to say that I sent you an e-mail about your comment in my blog. I know you're a very busy lady, but if you could find a minute to respond, I'd really appreciate it. :-)
YES !!! I do a lot of things myself as well.... love how your kitchen is coming together
How utterly cute!!! My dream is to one day have little gingham curtains with a cherry print border in my kitchen (though right now, our kitchen is windowless. Apartment living stinks! lol). ;)
I know exactly what you mean about just having to do it yourself with the curtains... My mom and I have both had that experience. ;) lol.

I love your curtains! I'm re-doing my kitchen in retro aqua and should get fabric to make my curtains any day! They're aqua with vintage airstream trailers all over them! How fun!!

i find that if i act annoyed and try to do it myself that is the only way to get my hubs to do it for me...because he is a crazy perfectionist and gets out the level and all that stuff..I just have to get the project started.
Love your cherry print curtains. I saw a cherry print plate in the sink at work the other day and thought of you. LOL thats a weird and creepy thing for me to say.
Your kitchen is making me green with envy! :)
I'm looking forward to more pics!
