I love to sew. Although sewing, for me, generally ends in some sort of unfortunate outcome, or minor setback. So of course, when my blogging "BFF" Solanah gave me a few yards of denim, misadventure ensued. I was actually using Solanah's McCall 7411, which is a 1930s pants pattern.
The pattern actually went together rather smoothly, even thought I had to down grade it 2 inches.
What I didn't take into account, was the rather large rise that came with this pattern. No joke, these pants have the biggest crotch, ever. I was flabbergasted.
My next step, meeting up with solanah so we can fix this crotch! Until then, I leave you with these late night pictures of my unsuccess!

Heehee its like Hammer time!
Ha! Yeah, thats in desperate need for a sewing date. At least it's not a skirt anymore!
I had art*deco*dame - Cant touch this! at least they are a classier version
Ha! The construction looks good at least! You could fit a small family into those pants.
I just posted a tricky sewing question too - let me know what you think...
Good luck, ubercrotch.
Trousers from this period have alarmingly low crotches! I have a 40s pants pattern that I raised the crotch a good 4", and on the next pair I want to make, I think I might raise it even more. Don't care for the droopy drawers look myself! lol. ;)

Sometimes it's difficult to sew !
Sometimes it's difficult to sew !
Bwaaah ah ha haha!!!
At least you recognize there's a problem with droopy crotch. At least you're not trying to sell that as stylish by calling them harem pants and pegging the calves/ankles.
it looks so 80's! but it seems in the patter it is a great style, I hope you can fix it, perhaps it is for a taller person.
This is hilarious. I just finished a pair of overalls from Simplicity 3322 and they have the exact same problem. I had to downgrade the pattern 3 sizes and also didn't take into account the crotch. I think I'll need to raise the crotch at least 5 inches.
I love it, at least for now you can say you own denim mc hammer pants!
I bet with a little seam ripping and alot of pinning these will be perfect in no time.
Happy sewing!

Damn... makes me want to put on my slacks and see if how far down the crotch is.
I'm crackin' up! Thank you for posting this. At least it's an easy fix, or relatively so anyhow. Ok, now I have to go post some pics of the skirt I finished last night. Unfortunately, the mistakes with my skirt cannot be so easily remedied as your Hammer pants. lol
HAMMER TIME!!!!!!!!!!! haha
