A Brief Sunny Day

We caught a small glimmer of blue sky and marginally warm weather today, albeit only for a few hours. I had some errands and thrifting to do, so of course I called up Solanah to make the trek with me. Afterward we returned to my little house to play with my children. The youngster was snoozing, so we popped into the back yard for a moment to soak up some light sun with Auggie B.
Oddly enough, half of what I wore today was given to me by Solanah. I think she looks so cute all snuggled up with my son. We had a lovely afternoon, but the grey and gloom has returned. I can not wait for spring to bloom, and cotton dresses with cardigans to be acceptable outdoor wear!
Hope you all had a lovely Monday.

Urban Snow Adventure.

I love the snow. I sit in front of my living room window like a child hoping for a blizzard when I see the first flakes begin to fall. I assume the reason I love the snow so much is that we rarely see it here in the Pacific Northwest. We always get a little dusting that is generally gone by morning, so there is never any time to play in it. Although for some reason it always causes at least a dozen car accidents? I don't know how that one works.

I was so excited when it began snowing 2 nights ago. I caught this picture on my porch of me watching the snow falling.
It was becoming nightfall so we could not go play in it, so I waited til morning. I bundled the kids up. I put on my bamboo stockings(warm!!) and a 50s wool skirt. We popped over to Solanah's house to walk her to work. We brought the sled, but at that time it had mostly turned to slush on the sidewalks.
My kids, ever optimistic, changed their chant from sledding, to "Its a pirate ship!" as we trudged the sled through puddles.
We had a blast regardless, and it was a lovely little stroll. I hope it is not the only snow we get this year. My kids loved it as much, if not more than me and I hope to have some more sledding adventures before the end of winter.

I want to wish you all a safe and happy New Year. Please remember to designate a driver and keep the roads safe. Also, look as fantastic as you possibly can! Happy New Year!

Packaged Love.

Over this holiday weekend, I received a bunch of packages in the the mail. I love to get things in the mail, It is my favorite part of online shopping, and or gift-y season. I love the feeling of tearing open a box and embracing your new item. And heck, any mail item that is not a bill is exciting!

I collected my boxes from the porch to find, some stockings I ordered super cheap on etsy, a card from a friend, and my box of goodies I WON from the give-away over at Dandelion Vintage! The prize winnings included a pink apron, clutch purse, hat box and much more! How spoiled I felt.

What a glorious way to end the holiday weekend, no?
I can't wait for the holiday season to really hit, so I can open my box to Christmas cards and letters! Delightful.

DIY Sewing Kit

I own several vintage sewing boxes I have picked up at Estate Sales over the years. But they are never the right size, or very portable. The other day while digging through my horded piles of vintage I came across one of my train cases. I have train cases for everything, no joke, I have a problem! I have a train case for traveling, one for modeling, and this one that was just sitting around waiting to be the perfect sewing box!
These old luggage pieces are perfect for holding all the little notions you can imagine, and the handle makes this set up totally transportable. Transport is wonderful if you have a sewing buddy like me, and need to take all your goodies.
It's also very helpful if you have a tiny tot to dig through your sewing kit. Very... helpful.
