Childish Behaviour

Photobucket
Honestly, I can't claim that I ever grew up. I am the loudest, most obnoxious person you will ever meet. My clothing never matches. I like to wear tiaras and pretend I am a princess. And today, I felt like jumping on my bed.
Don't take this wrong, I in no way feel these are "character flaws" I fully embrace my ridiculousness. I live my life like things are an adventure. I fancy sipping mimosas on a Saturday afternoons. I like to sing very, very loud in my car to my favorite songs. I want to be able to smile as much as I possibly can. Life should be funny.

I got this dress recently while out shopping with Solanah, and couldn't bear to sell it in my etsy shop. Plus I needed a dress that would allow me more opportunity to wear copious amounts of pink eye shadow.
My mini tiara I picked up at work and its covered in little rhinestones. I am a complete sucker for all things rhinestone.
My socks were an xmas gift from my boss by way of Leg Avenue. I really enjoy things with bows. mini socks with bows are ingenious.

I hope I never really have to grow up. That just wouldn't be any fun.

The Date Night Blues

This passed Saturday was a special weekend night, we had a baby sitter! Most of the times we get a sitter its on a monday night or something equally un-fun. To celebrate the Fella and I joined some friends for dinner and drinks. I love an excuse to dress up, so of course I went well over the top... Ha!

Also Please take note at the misspelling of "crinoline" HAH

I don't even like the color blue, but I seem to be adopting it all over my wardrobe as of late. I paired the blue with some silver and gray which I feel played together nicely. I did end up wearing my hair up that night because my curls were falling out.

This weekend also marked the Portland Antique Expo, which I went to and bought an armload of frocks for my shop. What did I forget to bring to the expo? Oh you know, just my camera! What an excellent blogger I am...

I will post an update when Anne of Lulu's Vintage posts the snap she got of me at her booth.

The Poof

I love big, bad, petticoats. I was lucky enough to get one from Lisa of Light and Shadow Photography during her moving sale, and its huge! Its a light blue late 50s crinoline, and I am so happy with it.

There is something so fun and girly about wearing a fluffy crinoline. I know in the past I have shared links on where to purchase some petticoats, but as a refresher here are a few more.
Here are some cool colored ones by Hey Viv! on Amazon.
This one is a longer tea length style, but less fluffy over at Unique Vintage.
Here is a mid-length one from Sock Dreams.
There is even one at Secrets in Lace, who knew?

Don't Forget to check etsy, for authentic vintage ones, they are listed quite often and come in a wide variety of styles and colors!

What I Wore.... The Crinni!

I seldom remember to do a "daily outfit" style post... sorry friends I am a busy vintage woman!
Yesterday I was feeling quite peppy, and hot, as it was about 10 degrees warmer than forecast.
I bought a new white crinoline to go under my full skirts. So armed with sass and frass, I left my house ready to rule the world.

Skirt: Vintage 50s Evan Picone from Urban Eccentric
Top: Modern, Banana Republic
Shoes: Modern bought by Husband.

If you do not have a poofy underskirt a.k.a. the crinoline or petticoat, you are surely missing out on fun and fancy-ness. So, to make the hunt easier for you I though I would include a few places to get one.

If you want to go all out authentic (recommended!) you can stop by Heavenly Vintage Lingerie and pick up this darling 50s crinoline for $30.00!
For a modern touch and something much more readily available in any size, stop by Baby Girl Boutique for several lengths and colors for $30.00 also. (beware, often out of stock, so buy when you see it!)
I also saw some modern mid-length crinolines over here on Amazon.com for somewhere near $28.00, which also come in several hues.

There you have it, a lovely dose of poof-poofery.
