One of the great downfalls of living in the low-lands of the Pacific Northwest is the severe lack of snow. I have lived here my entire life, and I can recall three times we had a good old fashioned snow fall. What generally happens, happened today. This morning we woke up to about 2 inches of snow, that was melted off by the lunch hour. We bundled up and headed on a walk to Mon Ami, the local coffee house. While there, Solanah came in, and we spent a cold afternoon together.
I finally got to wear my fur bow hat I picked up for $12 at a thrift two years ago. I was gifted a collar that matched it and it pulled the whole outfit together.
Solanah looked amazing in her mink, throwing snowballs with my little people. Alas, the snow is now gone and we are back to the rain that is so stereotypically Portland. So long sweet snow day, see you next year!

I LOVE that hat! Adorable!
I'm also in an area that never gets snow (northern California) and supposedly we're set to get some this weekend.
When does Solanah (or you for that matter) ever NOT look amazing?
Snow has its pros and cons, we've had snow constantly since the beginning of December this Winter season and I'm really fed up with it now, I want Spring so I could wear my new pretty shoes and hats! *^v^*
Love the hat! I adore fur, but don't have that much. I do, however, have entirely too much snow and would gladly trade you. :)
I'm very envious of your fur bow hat, you also found it for a great price.
Chicago has no shortage of snow this year. We had a real Snowpocalypse on February 1st that made national news. You can see pictures of it here: http://thriftaholic.blogspot.com/2011/02/blizzaster-2011.html
That hat is amazing!! Looks fun day :)
That is just the quaintest photo of your two little ones walking in the snow-so cute! :)
As a lady that comes from Minnesnowda, I am very envious of your 2 inches melted my noon. Last weekend it snowed 17 inches on Friday day and 7 more Saturday.
Although my vintage fur hat collections is amazing, the cold weather makes dressing vintage daily a serious commitment. I like to see how cute you ladies look all bundled up too!
Yeah its very hard to find a way to stay warm and stay vintage. I tend t just buy a lot of thick socks and wear all my wool dresses/skirts.
I need to buy more coats though, as I really only have one, and it doesnt match anything!
That to me is the perfect amount of snow! haha, Here is southern CA there is none ever. I want to move to northern CA, or the pacific north west, but I am afraid I will waddle around in layers of wool looking like Ralpie's little brother in a x-mas story. I better get used to the cold though, I need to get out of LA summers, those really will kill you!
this outfit is so pretty! amazing. looks adorable and amazing all at once. that is so strange that your snow melts so fast. we had snow here forever since December and finally it is starting to melt.
Sounds like the sort of snow we usually get here in the UK - though around this time last year it stayed for a week, which was virtually unprecedented.
That hat is fabulous, as is the cape - you look amazing.

You are welcome to come to our next of the woods in Ontario. We about 2 hours from Niagara Falls and we have a winter wonderland!!! Isn't it fun to wear vintage fur when you can?
Such a great outfit for a fun snow-treat-day! :) Living in FL right now (though originally from Wash. DC), I have been a bit bummed that winter means no snow. Unless you count the minuscule freak-dusting we got last winter (that had melted by about 9am). ;) Which means that all my fantastic vintage coats suited for snowy weather are languishing in storage... lol.
