There are some things I am in need of in my new house to fully complete my kitchen. I have the blue walls, the 40s appliances, and the red and white gingham curtains (with cherries!) but I am still yearning for a few items.
One item would be a cool old bread box to put in place of this ugly wire rack.
I am also hoping to find some cute cherry kitchen towels and a vintage cook-book holder. Do any of you lovely readers have leads on any of this stuff? I want to complete the transition from house to home.
(I also need to find some good curtains for the living room.. but that will likely have to wait financially.)

I'd have to ask the boyfriend when he gets home, but I do believe that we have an old breadbox that is hiding either in our attic or our shed. Once I know for sure I will get back to you. If we do though it is yours for the taking. Have a lovely day.
I have an old wooden bread box that says "bread." If you are interested in a picture of it, drop me an email (visible in my profile)
I saw retro inspired kitchen items (including a breadbox in target) in a variety of colors. Also Sur La Table has some cherry towels
I second the Target suggestion! I'm actually heading there this weekend to pick up the breadbox and a couple of canisters to hold stuff. ;) One of my local Targets has them on clearance right now too!

I saw this one at Target yesterday... and almost bought it. In the store it was on sale for ~ $ 10

(also in red, yellow, and some other color)
They also had a few other matching items (utensil holder, paper towel holder) - search "bread box" on the Target website!
OMG! that target bread box in red! perfecto! wonderful :) thanks for the suggestions guys!
So jealous of your kitchen appliances!
Good luck with your finishing touches!

We have Cherry Teatowels and a cute Red gingham table cloth with Cherry Napkins, but of course we're in the UK, we do ship to US though! wwww.notoriouskitsch.co.uk
You're house is really coming together, I'm so pleased for you!
you know etsy has cheap vintage curtains ;)most of them are under $50 for a set
Ooo, I just read this post.
I like Typhoon kitchenware except that it can have a tendency to rust underneath with time (had their pink cannsiters for a few years.)
I bought vintage Nally Ware cannisters & bread box from a local antique store recently...Very cute, VERY easy to clean and maintain being plastic. Bread box is a good size too.
That's my two cents :D
Mostly, enjoy your gorgeous new kitchen!!

Why don't you embroider your own tea towels? sublimestiching.com has a lovely pair of cherries on the 'tattoo your towels' pattern. You just iron on the pattern and follow the lines! Have fun! Amy x
I thought of you when I was @ the Target in Hazel Dell tonight and saw that your red breadbox and all the other items in that retro line are on clearance :)
