Fencing With Nets

Yesterday was errand running day for me, which included a stop in at the local bakery. Honestly friends, if you don't bake your own bread, or buy it from a local artisan baker... you are not eating the most delicious bread you can! Don't be fooled by Kroger's "atisans" their potato rosemary could not hold a candle to our small corner bakery.
At any rate, this bakery happens to be nestled right next door to Solanah's work, the Urban Eccentric. So after chatting her up for a minute, I stepped out to the bakery window, where she was kind enough to snap these for me.

In this image you get to see the ever elusive Metropolitan baby, Margaux. She is generally sleeping or running away from cameras, so consider yourself lucky!
My outfit today was a plain black cardigan, paired with a 40s red skirt. To vamp it up a bit I added fence net stockings, which I wont ever do again on preschool day. While dropping off my son at school, I got many unpleasant looks. I think they must assume I am a street walker or something. Oh small towns...

FAN-TAS-tic!! Looking good! (Especially love that it was preschool day... you're putting me to shame - when I think of the things I wore when dropping off my little ones to preschool! ha!)

And Margaux is adorable. :)

I think you both look fantastic!

You look awesome. The first time I wore fishnets to work my husband (who has no tact switch in his brain) told me I looked like a French prostitute. Ignore everyone. What do they know?

Thanks for the reassuring comments Rocket, yeah I know I try to let most of it roll off my back..
Yesterday was different though, I have never had so many cross looks. :(

Oh well! the world is not ready for my scandalous legs heheh

Oh they were just jealous 'cause you showed them up. Imagine, the mother of a preschooler who has the audacity to fix her hair, do her makeup and dress attractively (with a great figure even!) Keep making them look bad... maybe they'll start trying harder themselves. LOVE your blog!

ha ha I clearly don't have a clue, what on earth would be wrong with wearing fishnets? Are they really seen as cheap by some? Aren't people stange!!

You look great, who cares about those people, I suspect jealousy was high on the agenda!

I don't get it it's not like you're in a bra top and tiny mini skirt with fishnets! Whatever! You look fantastic!

You look stunning.

At first when you said fishnets were a bad idea on preschool day, I imagined lil toddlers poking your legs and pulling at your stockings....lol.

exactly, they're just hating cause they're in their pjs or sweat pants and a greasy ponytail and you're putting them to shame.

those fishnets are gorgeous and so is your outfit. the thing that i don't get is how you manage to look awesome when you have two small children. i swear the #1 factor in what i wear to work is, "how hard will it be for the kindergartners to ruin this?" and #2 is, "do i care?"

I think you look gorgeous, and so is your baby! I can really relate to the sticky school situation. Every time I pick my son up at school I get asked a million questions, some people are genuinely nice, curious and complimentary. And others just give you the look of death because they don't understand. I really could care less, some parents in elementary school are so cl-icky anyway! Rock those stockings Mama!

You look so glamorous--they were probably just jealous of your amazing style. :) I normally am not a fan of fishnets for myself (I just don't like how they feel), but I might have to dig out one of my long-tucked away pairs after seeing your outfit!

I think you and your gorgeous diamond weave stockings look absolutely fantastic! Rock that look anytime you want, sweetie, it's not your fault if the locals haven't got the fashion sense God gave them ;D

Big hugs (from a fellow fishnet lover/wearer),

I toltally know hoe you feel on the small town, mine is so small I dont even have stop lights jus a few stop sign, 17oo people live in my town, and with the way I dress or do my curls in my hair I always get a weird look. of well :)

Perhaps those "looks" were envy! You looks wonderful and to heck with the mommies who can't pull off that look. Whenever I wear my fishnets I'm asked where to buy them, mostly by men who want to get them for their wives!

Oh gosh - the only place I have wore true fishnets in the last 5 years was to a LGBT conference, volunteering to work the front admission table with a friend. The director, a gay man, just adored the hell out of every part of my outfit, but some of the lesbians chided me. I introduced myself to one gal and told her my name is Ester. She said, "You don't hear that very often." I said, "Yes, it's a little old-fashioned." She stepped back, looked me up and down, scowled and said, "There's nothing old-fashioned about anybody wearing those things." Yikes! My knees weren't even showing. You live, you learn.
