Today was an immensely hard day for me. I had to close my baby boutique, Boomba Toomba. The economy hit us pretty hard this year, and the overhead of a brick and mortar store was more than we could bear. I spent nearly the entire day crying (how un-ladylike), and even broke down into a sobbing fit in my car while at the bank drive-through.
I feel strongly for all small business owners at this time. It's a hard fight to stay aflot in this toxic economy. I hope to see this ecoomy turn for the better soon, so that others wont have to close like me.
To cheer myself up, I am endlessly wishing for the money to buy this (HA!): 30s Dress on Etsy
and looking at this funny picture Solanah took of me, after I finished dancing with a giant viking on the side of the street:

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I still havent gotten over closing my boy's clothing line. My blog is starting to fill the hole in my heart left by the end of Georgie World, but nothing compares to owning your own company. I have no advice for you except to try and take it one day at a time, cry when you need to, and eventually you will find something else that brings you as much satisfaction as your store.
Thanks doll,

It makes me so sad to read things like this. This economy is just awful. Now they are saying we haven't reached close to the bottom of the housing market! *sighs* I'm just not going to to think about it right now. Chocolate and coca cola/pepsi sales will safely keep those companies afloat. lol
If it helps, you'd look absolutely fabulous in that photo. Anybody who thought you were part of the act is going to be so sorely disappointed that they won't find anything nearly as a grand as your outfit in any old costume shop.
I'm so sorry you had to close!! Maybe someday you'll be able to reopen another store. Sending you a virtual hug.
