I have found that I love to sip my coffee from tiny cups. I used to be one of those modern starbucks giant-mug kind of girls, with a whole pot of coffee filing my cup. I find it quite pleasant now, to enjoy a small dose of warm french press coffee at a time in one of my lovely little vintage tea cups.
I have a small selection of tea cups, so I have been searching for some more.
My mother in law showed me her vast collection of Luster Ware and I knew I had found the perfect match. Now, I had been admiring her Luster Ware collection for a while, but never considered the tea cups as a personal necessity until now. She sells off incompletely pieces, missing mates or matches, so I am going to pick a few up from her soon.
Until then I though I would share with you some Lustrous Luster to look upon and enjoy. I had a harder time finding some of the older more exquisite pieces online, but here is what I could find.
This is one of my favorite sets, and Mother-in-law has one! The snack tray/tea cup set is so great for entertaining friends at an afternoon tea.
This is one of the more detailed pieces, which are my favorites, the lovely hand-painted designs are so fun.
This one is for sale HERE for $12.00 which is quite reasonable for a 40s Luster piece.
Some of the Luster Ware from Japan is quite exquisite. It usually features cultural designs hand painted on each piece. I really am fond of the bird designs that are often seen on Japanese Luster.
This set is a bit more spendy, but complete and can be found HERE for $200.00
This is a fine example of the plain styles of Luster Ware. These are fairly common and vary in color. Most with an orange or blue. I am still trying to find a set like this in Black and Orange for Halloween!
This set can be bought Here for $15.50
Here is a great little Question and Answer site with all kinds of lusterware info. So check it out if you want to learn more.

Oh I love those teacups! The Luster Ware is so pretty and colourful. I am a teacup collector as well, and sometimes it just makes teatime nicer to have it out of a proper cup. (I'm sadly one of those people who prefers a giant cup for my green tea in the morning - gotta drink a lot to get that caffeine fix!)
I now must have that tray/tea cup, only I need a set of four. I think I will add that to my EBay searches. I drink my tea out of a huge cup, but it would be nice to have the smaller cups with matching trays for when friends come to visit.
Thanks doll,
The Glamorous Housewife
Oooh I love a good teacup, I've inherited that little penchant from my mother, who has a rather fabulous collection of divine vintage teacups. I used to buy her one every now and then if I found a lovely one in a second-hand store, but lately I've been finding it too difficult to part with these delightful finds :)
I'm so glad you posted this. I had to come back and comment when I found myself at the State Fair yesterday and saw an antique dealer there selling a complete tea set of black and orange lusterware! The price tag is 115 bucks so we're thinking of going back this weekend to get it if it's still there by then. If we do get it, I'll have to post pics and link you to them.
