Urban Snow Adventure.

I love the snow. I sit in front of my living room window like a child hoping for a blizzard when I see the first flakes begin to fall. I assume the reason I love the snow so much is that we rarely see it here in the Pacific Northwest. We always get a little dusting that is generally gone by morning, so there is never any time to play in it. Although for some reason it always causes at least a dozen car accidents? I don't know how that one works.

I was so excited when it began snowing 2 nights ago. I caught this picture on my porch of me watching the snow falling.
It was becoming nightfall so we could not go play in it, so I waited til morning. I bundled the kids up. I put on my bamboo stockings(warm!!) and a 50s wool skirt. We popped over to Solanah's house to walk her to work. We brought the sled, but at that time it had mostly turned to slush on the sidewalks.
My kids, ever optimistic, changed their chant from sledding, to "Its a pirate ship!" as we trudged the sled through puddles.
We had a blast regardless, and it was a lovely little stroll. I hope it is not the only snow we get this year. My kids loved it as much, if not more than me and I hope to have some more sledding adventures before the end of winter.

I want to wish you all a safe and happy New Year. Please remember to designate a driver and keep the roads safe. Also, look as fantastic as you possibly can! Happy New Year!

@alex yeah I am not sure what it is that makes people drive like maniacs when there is less than an inch of snow. Hahaha

*sighs* It's still just rain, rain, rain up here. :(

I think we need to create a sled with wheels that can tuck up into it. Kinda like Heelies. Seems the snow can melt in the time your on an outing around here.

Back home, a dusting of snow is nothing. We drive in it like we do on a sunny day. It drives me crazy that this area shuts down into reclusion just because of a mere 1/2 inch of snow! I'm used three inches not being a problem. lol

Looks like you had a blast in the snow you did get, though! :) :)

I live in St. Louis and we usually have a TON of snow but I still love it...it's magical. It seems like every time it snows, The Seven Year Itch comes on tv, so my husband and I have a snow day tradition of watching the Seven Year Itch and eating cinnamon rolls and hot cocoa! mmmmmmm! You're right about the accidents. When there is the slightet bit of precipitation in any form, I think people freak out and forget how to drive! :) http://vavoomvintage.blogspot.com/
