Building Blocks

I have a small list of things I am on the hunt for, and constantly hope I run into. I seldom do, but sometimes I find a gem on the list and get to mark it off.
One item on my list is a decent, plain old black skirt.
This sounds like an easy task, but apparently I am more picky than I should be.
I really want a black skirt, from the 40s, that has an a-line shape to it with some gores.
something like this number from So Vintage Patterns:

If you have seen one, have one, selling one with a size 26" waist, I want it.
NAY! I need it.
The material does not matter, though Gabardine would be ideal.
I feel like I could have a pretty rounded vintage wardrobe, if only I had this elusive skirt!

Hiya doll! I'm so glad you noticed her nails, too! It sounds silly, but it made it completely worth it for me :)

And about the skirt...why don't you make one yourself? I think skirts are the easiest patterns to start with because there isn't much too them. One thing with vintage patterns, you can take the original pattern pieces, retrace them onto a thicker paper (something like a pattern paper would be perfect.) That way, no pin holes or wear & tear on the original (if that worries you at all!) Also, check out the Vintage Pattern Lending Library at http://www.vpll.org/. You may find a perfect gem!

Isn't it awful when you really are looking for something and can't find it? The solution...try looking for something else and a gazillion black skirts will show up!
